Basketmouth explains reason for shading Wizkid during Davido’s wedding

Award-winning comedian and actor, Bright Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth, has revealed why he shaded superstar singer, Wizkid amid the wedding ceremony of Davido and Chioma.

CorrectNG recalls that on June 25 when Davido’s wedding was topping trends, Basketmouth lamented on Twitter that he was having difficulty in promoting his Canadian tour because all the attention was on the nuptial occasion.

The stand-up comedian then made it controversial by saying that even Wizkid’s social media posts didn’t get much attention because everyone was focused on Davido and Chioma’s wedding.

“Davido’s wedding has taken over the social media space. Except you want us to start using Chivido2024 to promote the show. Which I don’t think will work. Because, even Wizkid wey throw shade, nobody send am”, the comic act tweeted days after Wiz and OBO clashed online.

Speaking on the incident in Toronto during Backstage Banter with Isi Ijewere on the stop over of his Canadian tour, Basketmouth admitted that Wizkid is his friend and the shade was just a marketing technique which worked.

He said; “Wizkid is my guy…that was a marketing technique. But I knew it was going to be edgy. I knew it was going to hit people. I knew they were going to get upset and they did exactly what I wanted them to do. It worked.”
