Kanye West announces retirement from music

American Hip Hop star and business mogul, Kanye West has disclosed that he is officially retiring from professional music.

The 47-year-old rapper broke the news that left fans disappointed, while having in a chat with colleague, Rich The Kid.

In a screenshot of their conversation which Rich The Kid shared on his Instagram story on Tuesday, Kanye said he’s unsure of what to do next.

“I am retiring from professional music. Not sure what else to do,” Kanye said.

In a bid to disuade him from leaving the music scene, Rich The Kid said; “Retire? Why? How? The people need you. The music you, TY [Dollar $ign] and we have made was the biggest stamp in culture to this date in 2024.

“Drop Ye about mine & V2 and we do it all over again. The kids need you, big bro. Fashion maybe some time to chill but retiring ain’t it.”

Weeks ago, Nigerian rapper and singer, Skales reacted to the announcement by his colleague, Victor Ncha Odu professionally known as Vic O, that he is quitting music.

The Hip Hop artiste took to his social media page on Saturday to make the announcement and he explained that he is quitting music because Nigerians don’t deserve him.

Speaking in a video posted on his official Instagram page recently, Vic O lamented the lack of support from fans and low patronage from show organisers. He said he deserves better than what he gets from Nigerians.

Vic O also posted his bank account details and appealed to fans to support him financially so that he can start a business.

He captioned the clip; “I’ve decided to quit music cause Nigerians don’t deserve me!”

After making his decision public, Skales took to the comment section to beg him not to leave the music industry while letting him know that he sees the rapper as his hero.

“No pls don’t quit you’re my hero,” Skales pleaded.
