Although Candy did not mention names, she stated that none of them can boast of helping another female artiste to rise through the ranks.

She said in part; “There’s no female artiste in Nigeria right now that you can say has helped bring out another female artiste”.

The emcee also talked about her tomboyish nature and how her mother made efforts to change her but failed.

“I’m a tomboy naturally. I’m not doing it for music promotion. My mum had tried to change me but she couldn’t,” Bleakz said.

Award-winning Nigerian singer, Tiwa earlier lamented over how fans and critics constantly try to pit her against other female artistes.

The ‘Without My Heart’ crooner said fans often argue that their reason for doing such is because they believe any new rising female artiste is coming to take her “throne.”

Tiwa stated this in an interview with BET, noting that she chooses to go out of her way and make friends with the new female musician because she believes the real competition are their male colleagues.

She said; “Fans always try to pit me against other female artistes. Any new female artiste that comes up, they would be like, ‘Yo, she is coming to take her throne.’

“And I would go out of my way to make friends with them because it is not a competition. The real competition are the male artistes. I was happy that Tyla, a female artists won the maiden Best African Music Performance category at the Grammys over the male nominees.”
