Police Arrest Four For Vandalising TCN Transmission Towers

Four individuals have been arrested by the police for vandalising the transmission towers of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in Kaduna State.

This development underscores the ongoing challenges in safeguarding critical infrastructure across Nigeria.

The arrests were disclosed in an official statement by Mrs Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager of Public Affairs at TCN, issued in Abuja on Friday.

The swift action by law enforcement highlights the vigilance and dedication of the police in protecting national assets.

According to the statement, the suspects were apprehended by the Kaduna State Police Command while actively engaged in the destruction of transmission towers in various parts of the state.

The timely intervention prevented further damage and potential disruptions to the power supply.

The items recovered from the suspects included shovels and diggers, tools commonly used in such acts of vandalism.

These instruments were likely intended for dismantling the towers and compromising the structural integrity of the transmission network.

Mrs Mbah expressed her gratitude towards the police for their swift and effective action. She emphasised TCN’s commitment to working closely with security agencies to ensure the protection of transmission infrastructure nationwide.

This collaboration is crucial in preventing similar incidents and maintaining a stable power supply across the country.

“The suspects will be prosecuted soon,” she stated, indicating that the legal process will be pursued to hold the offenders accountable for their actions.

This prosecution aims to serve as a deterrent to others who might consider engaging in such criminal activities.
