Injustice to one is injustice to all – Bisi Alimi stands in solidarity with Bobrisky

Nigerian gay rights activist, Bisi Alimi has joined the group of people who are seeking justice for jailed crossdresser, Idris Okuneye also known as Bobrisky.

In April, a Federal High Court in Lagos state had sentenced Bobrisky to six months in prison without the option of fine, after he pleaded guilty to abusing the naira.

Alimi who occasionally clashed with the drag queen on social media over difference in opinions, shared a photo of the crossdresser on Instagram while calling for his release.

He wrote in the caption: “Lest we forget – and injustice to one is an injustice to all.”

Nigerian content creator, Timi Agbaje, earlier explained why crossdresser, Bobrisky was jailed but socialite, Cubana Chief Priest got bail despite being charged with the same crime.

However, today, Wednesday April 17, the same court granted Cubana Chief Priest bail in the sum of N10 million after he pleaded not guilty to naira abuse.

Timi Agbaje, who holds a degree in Law said the reaso for the court’s different verdicts was that Bobrisky had pleaded guilty whereas Cubana Chief Priest hadn’t.

According to him, in Bobrisky’s case, two likely options were possible as a result of his plea, which was either he pays a fine or get jailed.

But Cubana Chief Priest on the other hand was granted bail, because under the law after he pleaded not guilty, no case exists, until the EFCC are able to provide beyond reasonable doubt that he abuse the Nigerian currency.

Timi Agbaje further said it can be argued by the defence counsel that the money being sprayed in the video which EFCC possesses wasn’t real.
