Jorginho Urges Arsenal Board to Secure Long-Term Contract for Manager Mikel Arteta
With just over a year remaining on his current deal with the Gunners, Mikel Arteta, who assumed the managerial role in December 2019, revealed last month that there were no immediate updates on a potential extension.
Under Arteta’s stewardship, there has been a palpable sense of rejuvenation and progress at the Emirates Stadium. Leading the club to their first Champions League quarterfinal in 14 years is a testament to his managerial prowess and tactical acumen.
“I sense he’s content here, and I truly don’t see him departing,” he stated. “It’s crucial for the club that he stays because he, Edu, the board, the entire club, they’ve built something special. I don’t believe he has any desire to leave either.”
Jorginho’s arrival at Arsenal from Chelsea in January 2023 marked a significant moment for the Gunners, bringing invaluable leadership skills and qualities that have contributed to the club’s recent achievements.
Asked about the managerial situation at Arsenal compared to Chelsea, where Mauricio Pochettino’s future remains uncertain, Jorginho emphasized clarity in direction.
“You have a clear direction to follow. You either align with that or you’re not part of the project. It’s very straightforward. Everyone here is committed to moving in the same direction.”
Arsenal faces Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, aiming to secure a victory and maintain their position at the top of the Premier League table.
