BREAKING: 4.1 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Los Angeles Area In California—A magnitude 4.1 earthquake hit Corona at 1:49 p.m. Wednesday, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The shaker could be felt throughout Orange County and at the KCAL News studios in Studio City.

The earthquake, which was initially reported to be magnitude 4.5, originated 1.5 km below ground.

The quake struck at 1:49 p.m. at a depth of nearly a mile and was centered in the Santa Ana Mountains about 5.6 miles southwest of Corona near the border of Riverside and Orange counties.

No damage was immediately reported, but according to the USGS, shaking was reported in a large swath of Southern California ranging from Temecula in the south and east to Santa Clarita in the north and west.
