As per the Saudi Supreme Court, the crescent moon was sighted on the evening of Sunday, March 10, marking the end of the Islamic month of Sha’ban.
Muslims worldwide were previously alerted to report the moon sighting in preparation for the sacred month known for its emphasis on piety and sacrifice in the Islamic community.
In Nigeria, the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Saa’d Abubakar III, who also serves as the President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), urged believers to be vigilant in observing the moon.
