Rema made me believe I can make it – Shallipopi

Popular Nigerian artiste, Shallipopi, has revealed that his colleague, Rema inspired him and other artistes from Edo State to believe in their talents.

The 23-year-old Benin-born TikTok sensation said Rema was a beacon of hope as they watched his growth, and it motivated them.

Shallipopi said they did not have hope that they will hit fame or succeed until Rema came into the limelight and showed them that it was possible for someone from a humble background can become star.

He said, “Benin as a place, none of us get hope to blow. We thought musical stardom was only attainable for Lagos and Abuja residents. We didn’t had the hope that we too could achieve spotlight. It was after Rema came, after D’Prince signed him to Jonzing World, that was when he realised that is also possible for Benin artists to hit stardom. There’s hope. If Rema cross over, we go fit cross over.

“When Rema went to Lagos, we were watching him. We are his day-one fans. He knows. We’ve been following since when he was posting freestyle videos on social to his trap EP to his new height. He was the one who gave us hope that we too can make it.”

CorrectNG reported earlier that Shallipopi recalled how rapper, Zlatan Ibile gave his career the boost it needed.

He said that he reached out to the ‘Lagos Anthem’ crooner via social media and much to his shock, the Hip Hop star replied.

Speaking in an interview on the Zero Conditions podcast, Shallipopi said he asked Zlatan Ibile to hop on the remix of his song, Elon Musk.

The ‘Plutomania’ crooner revealed that when he hit the studio wit him, that was where he met his now (former) record label boss, Dapper, the CEO of Dvpper Music.

He said; “I said let me message Zlatan so that he will reply me. I said ‘Baba abeg oh make we do remix for this Elon Musk song oh’, ASAP e just show seen I just faint. He said ‘Okay I am coming to Nigeria today.‘

I showed people in my house but they did not believe… They come see say na him. Zlatan come back call me come studio, make I come do remix.”
